Why do we remove wood flooring?
In previous before and after pictures, we briefly discussed the way water travels. Water will always take the path of least resistance. Wood floors are like canal ways for water to travel through. The water can go between each board and trap itself underneath the whole plank of wood. We often find that the felt paper installed between the wood floor and the subfloor to prevent squeaking is wet and damaged and cannot be dried. This is the reason we remove wood flooring in the event of a water loss. If we did leave the floor down and attempted to dry the subfloor through the wood, it would take ages to dry, and it could give mold the opportunity to grow.
