Turn off your Pipes!

Winter Weather is coming weekly at this point, which means it’s finally actually Wintertime. (No more of that false winter we get each year!) That also means it’s time to make sure the pipes that lead to your garden hose are turned off. When the temperature gets too low, the water left inside them (there’s always some unless it’s turned off and drained) can freeze, causing it to expand (water is less dense as a solid than a liquid, unlike most elements!), and bursting those pipes, causing a flood.
Floods are no fun--just ask anyone who’s woken up to a swimming pool in his basement! Prevent that headache by turning off those pipes while you still have the chance, otherwise you’ll need to hire a plumber and SERVPRO to come clean things up.
